So much to tell so little time...

I would love to tell you all I have so much time to post pictures and so on onto my blog to show you all what all I have been working on.  But here is a list so far:

  • 2 pairs of cabled arm warmers (one of the four are finished)(One for me and one for a friends daughter in a very cool black and Jolly Rancher Sour Apple color)

  • 1 felted candy dish which I have to finish today (Black and Orange)

  • 1 Knitted Afghan (for a friend) Quick and Easy (Using large needles and super bulky yarn)

  • 1 cabled head band (Totally addicted to cables).

I am holding off casting on cabled leg warmers… they looked so cool…. I must make them.

What is going on with me.  I have casted on most of this just in the last week.  I also have all my other projects but I decided to do all these also… Oh what have I gotten myself into.

I hope to have so photos up this weekend but I am helping a friend while she deals with her mother who is gravely ill.  My prayers and thoughts are with her and her brothers as they deal with this tragic time in their lives.

As for yarns well I have too much to add to my posting.  I have recently started to work with Hannah Silk in this awesome dropped stitch narrow scarf.  I hope to have it finished and wrapped for a Xmas gift.

As for my stitch markers, well I can tell you that I am in the process today of making lots more.  I recently decided to make some and to share them with others like I have been but I asked Johnny to make me a display for all of them.  Now if I can just get him to commit to making the display.  I have it all figured out in my mind and I showed him a sample.  You would think since he is a contractor and owns ever tool known to man he would be able to do it.  He just does not have the time.  So his usual answer to my whining about making it is to just order one.  BUT I want a special one…  I am not whining loud enough.   But I have my priorities on the whining.  I am whining very loudly right now for a Laptop.  First things are first.

I want a laptop so I can - Oh this is so bad.  So I can blog and be gone.  So I can work on computer work while knitting… every where…. Am I sick or what…LOL

Well I am off to go and knit in peace for awhile this morning. This will mean that I will have to go and sit and knit in my car since the dogs/cat/stepson are all taking up all the oxygen in the house…  My stepson is very sick and I am so worried about him.  He has never been this sick as long as I have known him.  But I know that he has what I had a few weeks ago so I can totally relate.  As for the dog shall we say 10 months old Labradoodle that is going through puberty… as for the cat… well this is a Johnny fault.  He feeds the dogs and cat from his plate.  The bad thing is that the cat will eat everything and anything.  From French fries to steak to apple pie.  Johnny left his apple pie out last night and I left my dinner plate (steak/rice/beans) out.  The trash was too full and we were all tired.  So this morning when Johnny got up like normal he makes his coffee.  And then gets the milk out and pours it into his cup.  Then pours some for each dog and then some for the cat.  Ok… here is where it gets not so good… for the light stomach people stop reading>>>>

The cat and dogs drank all theirs.
My stepson got up and start to run for the bathroom to get sick.  While he was in the bathroom I heard strange sounds from the cat… Yeap the cat was now vomiting all over the kitchen floor…. Then if that was not enough Johnny starts yelling at the dog because the dog (iPod) turns around and hicks his leg on Johnny’s side of the bed.  And if that was not enough I Well that was enough for me…. I had to put on my cleaning hat! Yeap Mom to the rescue!

Put the Cat out.
Clean Up
Change bedding
Kill Dog! (Not literally just had to scold him and put him out)
Put the Dog outside.
Clean up more cat stuff.  (How in the heck can a cat get that sick in that short of time)
Start Laundry to clean the bedding.
Clean up more cat stuff that you found that you did not know about at first!
Worry that my stepson is going to be ok.
Someone (I can not say who) is going to drive to school for the first time.
Worry that I am going to strangle a dog.
Send grouchy Johnny to the store to get a few groceries for his son who is very sick.
All of this by 5am this morning.

Did I mention that I am not a morning person AT ALL

So yes I am going to go, after cleaning up everything and getting everything situated I am going to go and knit in peace and eat some breakfast. By MYSELF.

Calgon take me away!

My theropy is to sit at our LYS and just veg out and look at all the awesome wonderful stuff and knit away! As Johnny would say “Knit-A-Hoy”!

Too Sleep or Too Knit (answer in the morning)

Have you ever had one on those nights where you can not decide whether to knit or go to sleep and the more you think about it you just can not decide?  I am so tired from this week but I want to finish my other glove.  I have been sitting here reading all my old mail that I have missed and catching up on everyone’s blog but in the back of my head I am fighting with the idea of sleep.  But then I think well if I get up from the computer I could just go sit and knit for awhile.  I did this the other night and I ended being up until 3 am… that sucked since I get up around 5:30 am.  I know that I would be more productive if I just went to bed and got a fresh start tomorrow but I have so much to do this weekend.  But I want my other glove finished…. Dang what a dilemma?  I need to figure this out or just go to bed and sleep on it…. LOL Just my random thought from the moment. ~Enjoy!

Denise Kits (When is it time to get another set?)

Ok... so recently (2 months or so ago) I discovered the Denise kits and fell maddly in love with them. I love the points... I love the fact that they are all interchangeable. I love that you can change out the needle size or snag them from one project to another... too cool. But here is my delima.

When is it time to buy another set of Denise Knitting Needle Kits? (A must for all you knitters)

Is it a sign that you have too many project going and you should just finish what you are doing and wait to cast on until you are finished with the needles you are using?

Is it a sign that you have way too many projects when you seem to buy the same needle size over and over and over... ? I don't even want to count at how many size 15 needles I have...

So is it time to buy when you just have to knit that next project NOW... why not wait. Does that mean that I might be a little compulsive??? HUM I wonder.

Ok... so I broke down and got a second set. That should have fixed it write???

But nnnoooooooooooo no... I need that damn size 15 needle... what is wrong with me... why can't I wait. Am I am being a little kid? Can I throw a tantrum? Pretty Please...

Here is the fix for it. Order just the needles ontop of the other 2 sets you have...

Ya that's right you heard me .. I ordered more needle tips. You can do that... oh no what a monster I have unleashed from with in... Will this knitting Monster ever leave... It better not since I have the stash of all stashes.

Enjoy!

Finished Galway w/ Cleo Buttonhole Bag w/ Cell Phone Cozy

It's finished. My buttonhole bag with matching cell phone cozy. I made this one with Galway and Cleo. I like the effect of a novitly yarn poking out of the felting. I have seen lots done this way but I really have never done it. But now I can say I have and I can tell you it will not be the last. I really enjoyed the look of the little puffs.

As for the cell phone cozy / iPod cozy Here is my own pattern:

15US DPN
Left over yarn from Buttonhole Bag

Cast On 20 stitches evenly on 3 needles.
Join and knit in the round until it is 1/3 longer then the desired length.
Bind Off using the 3 needle bind off technique / live bind off
( by slipping 10 sts on 2 DPN and then bind of using the 3 needle bind off)
Using tail from cast on tie on yarn to it and pick up 4 sts on the left edge of the top
Work in a 4 st i-cord.
Once i-cord has reached the desired length bind off and attach to the opposite side of the top edge of the cozy.
Weave in tails.
Felt as normal.
Tie onto buttonhole bag.

Not to bag on smokers BUT

Not to bag on smokers but this is just my venting moment…. Please forgive me if I offend you or anyone:

Boy do I have to vent tonight.  I am sitting here in my home with the windows open to smell the fresh rain outside.  But all I can smell is all my neighbors’ cigarette smoke.  This sucks.  Gosh! One of my most favorite smells is after a rain just how fresh everything is.  I looked so forward to it.  Today has been the first rain of the season and I looked forward to waking up and everything is so nice and clean from all the rain.  But NO… No I can’t smell the fresh rain over the smoke of my neighbors.  Do you think it would be rude of me to ask the neighbor not to smoke right next to our fence?  It sucks.  I can not even think of keeping my windows open to enjoy the freshness in the air.  I am so sick of being around the Air Conditioned air.  This really has been the first nice week that we can truly enjoy the open window and the fresh air.  But NO Not us.  Now I have lived in the Bay Area where everyone lives right next to each other like rat cages but never did I feel like this.  This is causing me to think why Johnny and I both woke up the last few days with migraines.  Since neither of us are smokers and can not stand it could it be while we are sleeping and enjoying the fresh air we are actually inhaling second hand smoke from our neighbor.  I would love to say they we have the best neighbors in the world but since the day I met her we have had all sorts of interesting issues with each other.  It seems to really bother Johnny at times and others in our family and I myself at times would love to just move away so I did not have to deal with some of the off the wall issues she has with us.  She told us when we first met that she did not like people to park in front of her house.  She does not want to look out her window and see cars or anything… Now if the person was just so anal about that then why oh why would she just now start parking in her garage after 2plus years?  She has always bitched when anyone parks in front of her home but here are the facts. We live in a community that has curb and gutter.  We live where we all own the street it is not just one person’s private parking area.  I happen to have kids that drive and they all have their own cars… this means that there are times that we can not all park just in front of our house.  Same with other neighbors and we all can understand and work with each other.  But damn it… first gripping about cars, then about gardeners and then about this and that… NOW I have to put up with Cigarette smoke… YUCK!  I know that when Johnny comes in from out in his office he will take one smell and then probably go out side and say something rude so that it is with in ear shot of her.  I hope she has her hearing aids in   She grips about us all the time… but she also grips about all the neighbors.  Nothing New… I wish she would move and we would get other neighbors.  Our neighborhood is pretty cool.   Everyone gets along with each other.  Never any real problem.  But it seems that on occasion she seams to stir things up from calling the cops about cars that stay on the street for longer then 3 days to bitching about garbage cans.  Just you know a really nosey butt of a neighbor.  I have to say that we all the neighbors around her have all had issues and this is just something that I know is going to just go by…. I just needed to vent.  I can not stand cigarette smoke.  I drives me crazy…. Can you tell?

Cloths For Katrina

Ok for those of you who do now know about this group that was recently formed here it is. For those of you who are knitters and crocheter and would like to help out all the victims of the Katrina/Rita then this is the group for you. It is called Clothsforkatrina and can be found at Yahoo groups. This is what I am working on right now for them. I started to knit one but I am so much faster at crocheting I switched. I hope to have several shipped off soon. Posted by Picasa

Felted Galway and Cleo Buttonhole Bag

Here it is all finished. The cell phone companion is in the washer as I write this. I am just too impatinet to not post this. I like the way this worked out with using the Muench Cleo as the inclusion yarn (aka novilty yarn that does not felt). I will post the phone companion when it is finished. I simple used the famous Buttonhole bag pattern as usual but I just added a novilty yarn through the entire body of the bag except for the bottom and the very final row and the bind off row where I had dropped the novilty yarn so as to get the finished edge that I was going for. Let me know what you all think, Please ~Enjoy! Posted by Picasa

Before felting Galway and Cleo Buttonhole Bag

Here is my latest felted project. This is a picture of the famous buttonhole bag pattern prior to felting. I used Galway by Plymouth (2 skeins #111) and Muench Cleo (2 skeins #137 Lagune). I made this one to match a shirt that I got and I can not wait to see what happens when I felt it. I had a little yarn left over so I am hoping to make a cell phone holder to match or an ipod cozy to attach to the inside. Cross your fingers. I will post a picture when it is finished. He is going though those lovely teenage boy moments. You would think that I would be use to it since I have 4 boys, all of who have made it past their 16th birthday. LOL!

His name is iPod and we love him but look into those eyes and you will see the mischeivious poodle in him. Where is the layed back Lab that he is part of... LOL Posted by Picasa

Posting to Blogger using MS Word

Ok so I have to give this a try. There is a new thing that can be done with Blogger. This could be the best so far for me. I found that you can now incorporate Blogger posting with MS Word. This is a good thing. I can always open Word and type something while I am always working offline. I love it so far. I will post a link as soon as I find where I found out about it. I believe it was because I downloaded the newest version of Piscasa 2 and it came with a link to all the Google downloads and at the bottom there was this little blerb about posting with Blogger from Word. Check it out. This is done in word. Here is a link to download it and other various google items. Look at the bottom for the blogger/word plugin. http://www.google.com/downloads/

Spoiled Brat am I or what?

I would like everyone to know that I feel like a little princess lately. I have been just so spoiled by all my PAL's.

First I started several months ago with SP5 and had such a blast with it that I had to join the current SP6. I also started making stitch markers and found a fantastic exchange group so I had to join it also which is "Stitch Marker Swap". Then one of the groups that I belong to decided to do a Secret Pal exchange and I signed up for that. Wow just how spoiled can one person get. Beleive me when I say this has been the most I have ever recieved and I love it all. I would like to thank each and every one of you who have spoiled me.

I myself have enjoyed spoiling my people. I got a little backed up since I was sick and everything. Have you ever been so sick that you can not remember where an entire week went? I am back on the mend now and am getting back in the swing of things.

I can not wait to use all the great things that I have received. From the yarn to the foot spa stuff. I love the stitch markers and I completely enjoy getting to know each and everyone of you. What a great way to enjoy the Internet and still be completely addicted to knitting/crochetting/yarn.

Thanks from the bottom of my heart.
For more information about the exchange groups check them out.

Stitch Marker Swap Current exchange which is nearing the end
Stitch Marker Swap 2 - which will be starting up soon LINK TO come Later
Secret Pal 6 - Currently going on Started in September
Felted Bag KAL Secret Pal - Great group of knitters that enjoy making felted bags.

Thanks you so much for the great package. I am sorry if I got your gift confused with anyone else. I am in 3 gift groups. Felted KAL Bag Secret Pal, Secret Pal 6 and Stitch Marker Swap. I have gotten confused on thanking the right person for the right gift. Please forgive me if I have missed out on thanking you. I love the package which I recieved recently. I can not wait to dye the wool. You must have read my website about how much I enjoyed dyeing with kool aide. and I love the Lemon Lime color. Very cool. And the book well I have to tell you that I am so jazzed about it. I can not wait to make a needle holder (felted). I have made several mobiues and love them. I just had not gotten this book as of yet. Several of my friends have made the cat bad from this book and it is so adorable. Since we recently acquired a cat that was abandoned in our neighbor hood which has now become our cat, I think I will also have to make her (Patches is her name) the felted cat bed. Thank you so much for your lovely gift. I love it. Posted by Picasa
